I received this book from NetGalley. Another amazing book from Samantha Shannon! Just as good, if not better than the first in this series. I love the world building in this book. This series is quite different from others I've read and I can't wait for the next book. I have to know what happens with The Black Moth and the rest of the syndicate. I highly recommend this book! Thank you NetGalley!
This one fell a bit short for me (I feel like it suffers slightly from second-book syndrome), but I’m excited for The Song Rising!

I couldn’t put this book down. Exceptionally revised, just like the Bone Season, Samantha Shannon has revitalized her previous work into a masterpiece. I was at the edge of my seat through the entire story, even though it was one I had semi read before. The development of characters, the expansion of the syndicate, and the heat she added to the slow burn is PERFECT.

tldr - I love this book and everything in it, and also Samantha Shannon
If I could choose anyone on Earth, it would still be you, Paige Mahoney.

This is my 4th full length novel from Samantha Shannon (and my 100th logged on here!) and I think I can safely say that she is one of, if not my favourite authors of all time. The scrimmage chapter made me feel the most adrenaline reading I’ve felt since the hunger games. The twist at the end was magnificent.
The Mime Order escapes the trap of being the slightly dull filler book in the middle of the start and end of the overall story (although it is clear that this is the segue between larger events) and manages to keep The Bone Season’s themes and characters feeling fresh. Paige is noticeably changed by the things that happen to her, yet she doesn’t go down the typical fantasy protagonist route of becoming ruthless and unforgiving, she laughs and spends time with her friends, and fucks up, and has worries and issues outside of the main plot and “omg my love interest might not like me!!” I honestly could write forever about how much I love Paige Mahoney, Samantha Shannon, and this series in general, but you all should just read it instead :)
