“Revenge is one hell of a motivator.”

💭 Following the first volume there’s budding distrust.

What I liked:
  • Aphra’s backstory
  • Triple zero droid (really love his dialogue)
  • Krrrsantan
  • Thanoth is on Poirot level
  • Seeing the twins in action
  • The Ante

What I wasn’t a fan of:
  • Nothing, just wanted more again

I can’t get enough of this series. I confuse to be pleasantly surprised as these stories continue. I would highly recommend these to any Star Wars fans.

I'm really enjoying this series. Vader is such a badass character, and it's cool how - despite him being a "villain" - I'm able to root for him in this comic. At least, I root for him as he's competing with other villains; I certainly still root for the rebels when he faces them, haha!

3 stars. Meh. Not as good as the first volume unfortunately. The first one was a lot of fun and action packed and while this one had action, it was nowhere near as fun. I see where the story is going but this was kind of boring and I wasn't as interested. I'll continue on with the series though because I feel like it might pick back up again.

The artwork in this is beautiful 😍and Gillen really gets to grips with the characters with his writing. Darth Vader exudes calm menace and raw power.
In the aftermath of A New Hope and the destruction of the Death Star, Vader has been held accountable for the failure by Emperor Palpatine. The Empire gives him a mission to redeem himself while being overseen by adjutant Inspector Thanoth but that won't stop Vader from pursuing his own agenda, namely tracking down Luke Skywalker, especially as he now knows he is his son.

Vader has secretly enlisted archaeologist and droid expert Doctor Aphra, a crew of bounty hunters and some murderous droids.

On Vader's orders Aphra and crew must loot a stash of credits from an Imperial cruiser to finance his plans. Made to look like an accident all seems well until Inspector Thanoth suspects foul play and Vader has to accompany him to bring the thieves to justice.

Vader is one of the best villains but here we are almost on his side as there are levels of villainy among the shadows.
This series started strong and carries on with the same quality.

This one was slow to get through. It just didn’t grab me like the first trade. It’s mostly Doctor Aphra stuff, and Vader having to evade a Sherlock Holmes type of Imperial officer.

It was pretty good, but not great. Both Aphra and Vader have been better. And that’s maybe unfair considering Aphra is introduced in the Vader comic and all the really good stuff comes later in her own series.
