Every last fear took me by surprise. I didn't expect to love it as much as I did. There were quite a few characters and so many different timelines. I thought I would be overwhelmed by it. But I ended up loving it. There are chapters narrated by deceased characters from before their death. We get to see everyone's personal thoughts due to the multiple POVs.
The writing style was immaculate and the tone of the book was a bit creepy. The plot was filled with twists and turns. The book was fast paced but I think it could have been a bit shorter. It felt a bit dragged out towards the end. The cover of the book is really apt because it showcases the multiple parallel timelines.
The story was about the Pine famiy. Evan ( Father), Olivia ( Mother), Danny, Matt, Maggie and Tommy ( Kids). Danny was a wrongfully convicted for his girlfriend Charlotte's death. Evan can't get over it and he along with Maggie keep working on getting him out. Matt on the other hand believes that his brother was the killer due to something he saw on the night of the murder. Tommy was the youngest and has never even met Danny.
Matt was off in college when suddenly he gets contacted by the FBI. His whole family died in a gas leak in their trip to Mexico. Now, he only had Danny left. As Agent Keller starts investigating, she soon realises that everything is not as it appears on the outside. Someone was after the Pine famiy for a reason and it was connected to Danny's case. Have i caught your attention now? Read to find out more!
I'll recommend this book all thriller and mystery lovers.

I thought I wasn't going to like this book because it was going slow, but omg the last few chapters.... holy shit

Pretty good debut from Alex Finlay. Easy read. Tense. Fast paced. Decent characters. A bit predictable, but will make a fun rainy day or beach read.
For me, this book is literally a 3-star read. It's an average book. Readable but nothing special. I have to admit I expected more from the blerb, which advertised it as the most expected book of the year.
And I have to ask, why did that party need to happen? It adds nothing at all to the book. I'm so sick of the exact same scenes where (stop reading if you don't want spoilers because I'm technologically inept and I don't know how to mark just one part of the review as spoiler) intelligent yet innocent teenage girl is in love with popular rich jock boy because jock boy is different, jock boy invites teen girl to party, teen girl goes to party reluctant yet excited, boy lures girl away and almost/rapes her. I'm fine with the topic in general, it's an important topic. But this particular trope is old and so boring!

Easy, quick, captivating, even if not the most original story. I rarely figure out the plot twists so this was a nice exception to that rule.
2.5 stars. I found most of this book boring. I wanted to put it down a few times but I kept listening because it had quite a few good reviews. The story has a twist in it but it wasn't very exciting. It was more of a "oh that happen.... ok" feel.
The story is about the Pine family and a murder that happened several years ago. The eldest sibling, Daniel was found guilty of murdering his pregnant girlfriend, Charlotte. Daniel has been in prison ever since. Matt Pine is a college student at NYU. At the beginning of this story your find out that the Pine family has died. Four people died; Evan, the father, Olivia, the mother, Maggie, the 17 year old daughter and Tommy, the 6 year old and All expect Matthew, who is at college and Daniel who is in jail. The story is told in the present through Matthew's POV and in the past, several POVs.
Overall, this book was just ok. I spent most of this booking waiting for "thriller/suspense" part to start.

Every Last Fear by Alex Finlay is a well-crafted, perfectly plotted entertaining entry in the mystery/thriller genre. The story revolves around one family involved in two murder mysteries 7 years apart. There is a lot going on, multiple timelines, multiple narrators, and several storylines. Despite the many balls being juggled, the storyline is cohesive and tightly plotted. The characters have depth and agency and I loved getting to know the Pine family. Every Last Fear is an action-packed, satisfying mystery where all of the mysteries are resolved, feel organic, and are unexpected. I listened to the audiobook, which was well narrated and kept me riveted.
