Another great Christie! I quite enjoyed this one! My only complaint would be that Miss Marple only arrived 50 pages before the end of the book, and I would have liked to see a bit more of her detective work. Otherwise, I quite liked the characters and the setting. I love Christie's small-town mysteries like this one, they make for the best cozy reads. I do think that the romance at the end felt a little out of place, but I didn't mind it much, other than it feeling a little rushed. Overall, The Moving Finger was a good read and a very clever and interesting mystery!

Ah, a good little cozy mystery for a Sunday afternoon.
This is the first book I've read by Christie that has Miss Marple in it. I thought that it was rather good, though I was surprised that Miss Marple wasn't the narrator. It was odd to me, that a crime that is solved by her and she doesn't show up until over halfway through. I think that was what I was disappointed about for the most part. Also the reason why I knocked off a couple stars from it.
Despite that, the characters were very much like a small town. It was fun to read them and see how they were, how they played into the mystery. Trying to solve it is always fun, though I failed at this one. I didn't get it, but I'm definitely going to try another to see if I fall into the same trap that I did this time.
The love story in this novel, because there is a love story, was a bit odd. Out of place for a murder mystery, in my opinion. It made sense with the narrator, though. A bachelor is narrating his experience in a small town where there are an abundance of women, as it seems. He just happens to fall for the one that's just a little bit different from the rest. Because, you know, every guy likes the girl that's not like the other girls.
I wish that it had been a bit longer so there was more character development. I love that stuff, but there was none of it. Relationships came out of the blue and most of the characters were portrayed as one-dimensional. Megan's only change was that after her time in London with Jerry, she got pretty and he finally saw the way he actually loved her. And Joanna was one-dimensional, until she met the doctor and, well, fell in love with him.
Really, it was just a fun little mystery for me to read in one sitting. Don't regret doing it one bit.
