Re-read as course prep. I still love this one. I keep expecting to find that I've "outgrown it" or some such nonsense but nah, it's still excellent.

a great farcical comedy that displays a surprising level of sophistication and wit and is playfully metatextual in its matryoshka structure (solely in terms of five-act plot construction, this may well be one of shakespeare's most radically experimental works). no idea how i hadn't read this yet, but it's a really light and witty entry in the bard's oeuvre, one that i can see remaining endlessly entertaining upon a reread.

also got to see this performed at the globe which is actually the main reason i read it to begin with, but no regrets both ways. it stages as hilariously as it reads.

A cute and simple version of the play that children (elementary age) can understand and enjoy. Beautiful artwork as well.

I was really enjoying it until we got to the final act where they did a bad performance of pyramus and thisbe, which made me feel bored
