The journey continues with Davian, Asha, Wirr, and Caedan, etc. I find I am still a bit lost as to the connection between Davian and Caedan. The end has a surprise but it left me with a lot more questions.

I thought I was prepared after the emotional rollercoaster that the previous book in this series was for me. Now I know that if it ever feels like Islington is pulling a punch, it's because he's winding up for some real emotional damage. If you ever need a good distraction, this is the perfect series - every other chapter seemed to make me shout at the book in alarm as every answer to a question changes so much about everything you understand about the story so far. This series is a slower pace than I'm used to, but it pays off so well.

You can see James Islington become a better writer as this series progresses. It's a fun series but not without its flaws. The story tries to be a complex web of intersecting stories but instead of being more interesting, too many twists makes the reader retreat back and to stop caring as much for the characters.
