I really thought I'd never find the motivation to finish this but here I am, two years later since dumping this one to gather dust. Who knew?

Anyway, I remember really liking the story in the beginning. An archangel utterly devoted to his Father yet he can't seem to let go of this human he fell so hard for? I mean, what's not to love. But then sparks lost their way to me midway. I can't believe I'm saying this about a TJ Klune book because I loved his works. This is still pretty neat but I guess just not up to par with what I expected from him.

I guess leaving it untouched and then come back only after a couple of years would do that. This is not a bad book by any means, it really is just me.

Okay so I'm not good at writing reviews, figure the rating tells me all I need to know when I want to remember what I thought about the book. This obviously is tied in a tiny way with The Bones Beneath My Skin, but not by much. Only the town itself and a couple of characters. But it looks like TJ was building connection between this universe and Burn. It makes me even more sad that the Elementals series didn't pan out.

I added death of a parent as Graphic content warning, because a lot of the book focuses on Benji's grief, and moderate didn't quite ring true to me.

DNF at about 60% I chose to do the Audiobook and I really really loved the narration and hated to give up listening. I also really loved the writing in general but it did get too repetitive imo and we weren’t any further in the plot from the beginning to where I quit. I would love to try another book by this author though based on the writing.
