I almost instantly fell in love with little, very emotional David Copperfield! The book is a chronicle of 30+ years of his life. It drags a bit in the middle. His "child-wife" is very annoying, and wasn't sad at all when she died. Lovely book that was worth reading.

Overall I think the bones of a great story are there - David is a very likable protagonist and his cast of characters around him are quite interesting. There is an unsurprisingly large amount of text to sift through to get to meatier parts of the story. Excited for Demon Copperhead

Finished! Mammoth task, 28 audio discs but a very well told and gripping story. Lots of minor characters you recognise from future incarnations, a slimy villain in Uriah Heep and the fascinating evolution of David and his love life from innocent boy with crushes to adult man with responsibilities and real love. Great Dickens.
