While this is a lovely told story, it’s my least favourite Roald Dahl as I don’t think it has the magic the others do

In a valley live three farmers; also known as the meanest crooks in the valley.
Mr. Boggis - a farmer who breeds chicken
Mr. Bunce - a farmer who breeds ducks and geese
Mr. Bean - has cellar filled with apple ciders
Mr. Fox has been stealing things from these three farmers and it drove them into a huge rage; resulting in them wanting a revenge on Mr. Fox.
Mr. Fox and his family are forced to stay underground to avoid facing the guns of Farmers Boggis, Bunce and Bean.
After three days, driven by starvation, Mr. Fox concocted a plan on getting food to feed his family, the Badger family, the Weasel family and the Rabbit family.
"Do you know anyone in the whole world who wouldn't swipe a few chickens if his children were starving to death?
Also, some dialogues:
Mr. Badger: Foxy, I love you.
Mr. Fox: Thank you.
Me: LOL FRIENDZONED

I remember loving this book as a child, but re-reading it I find that it hasn't aged well. The stereotypes are cringe-worthy at best, and while I imagine this would be a nice book to read for children, I had a hard time enjoying it as much now when I am an adult.

We plan on showing the kids Fantastic Mr. Fox and Margaret wanted to read it before watching the movie.
It’s a fine kid’s book, straightforward: you’re told who is bad and good and you just trust it without needing evidence because it’s a simple story. You ignore things like where does displaced soil go when they dig under ground. Would be fine for a read aloud.

what a brave and thoughtful dad the Mr. Fox is. The story taught me what is responsibility and courage.
