Nate and Becca’s story was so enjoyable!
I loved their dynamic and that neither character is “typical”
It is a bit slow burn with a satisfying journey to the HEA.
I adored them both and the pace of the story was perfect!
I loved it!

Really, really good! I’d say the best in the series so far. It’s a great friends-to-lovers billionaire romance with actual hockey content! It would be a five star read but it relied too much on false conflict to move the story forward.

I was continually frustrated by the MMC and his endless money but lack of awareness of the FMCs needs/position. This was a bit too real of a billionaire. He forgot what it’s like to worry about money.

My favorite of the series, but that's probably due to shipping this couple since book one. Plus some more backstory was given which is always nice.

A solid 3.5 stars, rounding up.

Let's just put it out there, I hate the cover on this. 'Naked man' covers really just don't do it for me, and it's the reason it's taken me 18 months since I downloaded it to bring myself to read it, despite extremely solid reviews. I think I dislike it even more having read it, as it really doesn't reflect the character of the male lead. (Also, he's a tech billionaire . . . and in the real world, they look like Elon Musk, not this cover model).

But the story itself was a pile of fun. I love competent romances - where the central couple talk to each other like real adults while they navigate a new relationship, instead of the central conflict coming from a lack of honest conversation. The characters and their motivations were totally believable, and got you on board with their relationship from the outset. On top of that, this was full of slightly nerdy banter.

Docking a star
Spoiler because I found the whole sub-plot with Nate's friend Alex pretty unnecessary and over-the-top. It felt like it was introduced to give a last minute spanner in the works, which as Nate and Becca immediately talk it out, really wasn't necessary.

Main: Rebecca and Nate
plot: he owns the bruisers hockey team and tech company and she started as his assistant became office manager. When she gets hurt with a concussion he goes above and beyond to help her. That starts the turn of events and eventually them fully accepting what everyone else knew that they were in love.

Sarina Bowen does well with her books. Her characters are funny, relatable and not problematic. Oh, and the way they come together as a couple is usually believable.

And I am using "believable" kind of loosely, if I am being honest here.

In Brooklynaire, we are introduced to an aloof Billionaire, who we find out is a big adorable dork (aw).

Really, he is pretty cool, and his relationship with our heroine is authentic.

To be honest, the part I'm finding difficulty grasping is why there was so much misunderstanding between the two.

Rebecca helped Nate build his business, back when he was some coder who loved cheap jeans and ping pong.

Rebecca introduced Nate like some typical billionaire. She said he never came to her apartment. That he was not understanding at all. That he would never understand her concussion. That he was the sleek, no nonsense boss.

She painted the whole cliche-rich boss picture for us.

And then we meet him.

And he is an incredibly caring guy who visits her. No seriously, the first time we meet him is as he is visiting Rebecca to give her flowers and check on her. HE EVEN LETS HER LIVE WITH HIM, and all that stuff. They kind of built a business together.

She knew him intimately, and yet she still introduces him to us like he's the usual Jerk boss who won't let her miss work for her concussion????

I do not understand that. At all.

Even their whole relationship seems like the two of them are two beats off with each other. It's kind of concerning that they are so out of sync with each other sometimes.

Also some of the drama seemed highly manufactured, which I'm not too pleased about.

Esp a last minute pregnancy scare that serves to do nothing for the story.
