Found it very informative and thought-provoking but would have liked more focus and detail on the proposed alternatives to incarceration.

Wow. Everything I’ve read by Angela Davis has really hit hard. It’s made me think and grow my ways of thinking about things and issues. I’ve only just begun my abolitionist journey and it’s not easy but I think it ultimately lines up with my values so the work is worth it if I wanna practice what I preach. I think this book is a great one for those early in their journey like myself and even though it came out like a decade ago is still extremely relevant today

Just read this book. Just read it. I have nothing to add because everything has already been said in this book. I did every single project in english on this book my senior year. By the end I had my teacher and all my classmates in an Angela davis anti-prison industrial complex fury. This may have been one of the best pieces of political theory I have ever picked up and anyone who is looking to get into leftist theory please read this book.
