I generally enjoy the short stories of the ACD canon, but I think its charm fades a bit for me when it takes on a longer form. It becomes easier to see that Doyle didn’t care an awful lot about giving his characters interiority.

The novella concludes with Holmes taking Watson out on yet another one of their little dates, which was a cute note to end on.

I've always enjoyed this story of Holmes' + Watson's adventures - that potential supernatural element is always a fun angle as Watson slowly gathers up clues.

The story is told in a very interesting way, the mystery addressed on the book is indeed catchy and as always Sherlock and Watson are a really lovable characters.
