A good read, did enjoy it but didn’t blow me away. Overall feeling quite disappointed by the Sherlock Holmes stories. Whilst the dedications are fantastic, the rest of the story leaves much to be desired.

I was familiar with this story, but couldn't recall the details and had never read it. It is the One Book, One Community selection this spring. I enjoyed it and may read the rest of the Sherlock stories.

bring back manly men who go into a feverish delirium after receiving mildly shocking news and have to go on a cruise to recover their spirits after a big dog chases them
took away 1 star because there was so little actual Sherlock Holmes and another for the pointless presence of Dr. Watson, who I guess just exists so the audience knows that Holmes is, like, really really smart and really really clever

A gripping read like few books have been. The best Sherlock Holmes case and one of the best pieces of British literature ever.

I already know students I am excited to recommend this title to. Hounds of the Baskervilles is a great text to begin with. The graphic novel format helps to make it more accessible. It is an easy enough read for young readers, but engaging enough for readers of all ages. Understand that it is not the original text, but I feel that very little was lost in the adaptation.
Color images would have been nice, but on the other hand, I appreciate that the black and white approach keeps the cost down. Graphic Novels can be pricey, and this one is incredibly affordable. Some of the pages/frame seem a little text heavy, especially when a scene is primarily dialog or monologue. That is a challenge that comes with this text in particular. However, these pages are alternated nicely, with some full page panels.

This book really deserves its own fame. The best Sherlock I have read so far. I'd give it 4,5 - not 5, on account of the last chapter, which reveals all the clues you could have picked up on already. Very Sherlock, but the reader isn't stupid.
