Many thanks to The Nerd Fam, Harper Collins and NetGalley for the gifted eARC!
Holy wow, this book was good! There’s not many books that have me so eager to read it that I finish it in just under two days, but this was one of them. There’s so many things to talk about, but first off I really love Edira as a character! She is feisty and stands her ground and while I love seeing women wield a sword, something about her being in a healer role as a Threadmender is refreshing and it’s even more refreshing that she doesn’t lose that fire. The world building in this gothic romantasy is immaculate and learning about the Evers and the Ferngloves in particular made this so fun to learn of the different family members. Orin and Rorik were also refreshing characters and I enjoyed learning about them as I read on. The whole plot kept me on my seat as I got to learn about the Blight, its connection to this world and how no one is immune to it. Needless to say it had me at the edge of my seat from the first page down to the very last. I’m very much looking forward to seeing how the series continues to unfold!

Thank you Maxym M. Martineau (but also not thank you because of that ending. You know what you did!), Harper Collins, and Net Galley for the e-ARC in exchange for an honest review.
It's a slow beginning, medium middle, then after 57-60% it turns into "I gots to know!" The book is loveable after slow start. You just slowly start to fall for the characters. The author does an amazing job with bread crumbing you with tid bits of each character. I was hooked. If it had been a physical book ARC I would have thrown it across the room at the end. Don't get me wrong I loved it but it ruined me and I was mad at how it ended but in a good way. It reminded me a tiny bit of ACOTAR in some aspects of the story and other stories in other ways but definitely unique. You're definitely going to enjoy it. I would have rated 5 stars fully if the beginning wasn't so dry. There was a lot of inner monologue in the beginning so I struggled.

Thanks to Nerdfam and NetGalley for the ARC!
This book is basically The Apothecary Diaries but set in a fantasy world with immortals and magical powers.
The FMC, Edira, reminds me a lot of MaoMao. They are both apothecaries who try to solve the problems that royals have because of a contract that forces them to. The difference is that Edira is only trying to solve one problem which is the Blight (an incurable sickness) that has affected the world.
This is a slow paced book. It is a clue gathering story but even I couldn’t figure out what was going on. Every time I tried to fit the pieces together it wouldn’t work because new information would arise and change it or there wasn’t enough information. I will say that everything does have a reason and it will be brought up again!
The only thing I really had an issue with was that I didn’t really feel connected to any of the characters expect Edira. The Ferngloves (the royal family) were suspicious the whole time so I never really connected with them expect Orin’s (the MMC) brother intrigued me.
it physically pains me to say this but unfortunately dnf at 37%. i was so unbelievably excited for this one as i loved maxyms beast charmer series, it remains one of my favorite trilogies to this day but this has fallen so flat for me it is like pulling teeth to keep reading it

This is such an interesting and unique gothic romantasy with a hint of mystery, I absolutely loved every second of this and I can’t wait for book 2 in this duology.
You have Edira, a threadmender which basically means she can heal people. Only thing is, each time she does; it takes time off her own life so she hardly uses it. Well all that changes when her brothers fall ill with a deadly disease called blight and in order to save her brothers she agrees to help Orin the leader of the Fernglove family in eradicating blight all together. Well boy does that take a turn after she finds her aunts journals and learns some very interesting things about blight and the Fernglove family.
A huge thank you to HarperCollins Publishing and Maxym Martineau for the gifted ARC🥰

Wow this book was AMAZING.
I was captivated from the very first page and my attention was held throughout the entire book. This book is so well written, it was easy to fall into the world that was created. The story was so fun and enchanting, I couldn't put it down.
Edira was a fantastic FMC. She was brave and loyal and she deserves the world. The whole Fernglove family dynamic was fascinating and alluring.
The plot was intense and had me on the edge of my seat. I absolutely loved this book so much, and that ending....I need the next book NOW!!!

4.25 stars!
House of Blight is a romantic fantasy with an intriguing magical aspect and entertaining characters.
Edira is a strong and determined protagonist. While terrifyingly naive, she is determined to save her brothers no matter the cost. The Evers are incredibly intriguing with their own magical abilities and mysterious personalities. Orin is very friendly that it is off-putting. Rorik is the average broody brother. My personal favorites are Rorik and Seville.
The main plot is for Edira to find a cure for the blight plaguing Orin’s grandmother, but it feels like there was no actual focus on her training her abilities—the breathing trainings with Rorik seems to be the only ones in depth until nearing the end. I do think one of my favorite parts of the book is the masquerade ball. While I found this book a bit predictable, it is written in a satisfying way that I cannot wait to see what the next book holds!
Overall, this was an enjoyable book with well written characters. Thank you NetGalley and Harper Voyager for the early copy! All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Thank you Goodreads for the opportunity to enjoy this arc of House of Blight. Absolutely loved it! There are already a lot of good plot reviews so l'll just keep my review to my favorite part of the book: Edira. The FMC is relatable, fiery, down to earth and a family first girl. Everything she does is for her family. She has a strong sense of justice and isn't afraid to get her hands dirty to exact that justice. In one of my favorite lines: "skirts won't stop me from stabbing you." It's gothic, it's intriguing. Didn't see the ending coming and it is left on a delicious precipice. I cannot wait for the next book!

Edira is a human with a unique magical ability to heal. She hides this ability from everybody except her brothers, after her aunt warns her to never show it to anybody shortly before she disappears.
One day, shortly after the town’s market day which is visited by the highly powerful Fae-like creatures, her brothers both come down with a deadly illness that has been spreading throughout her town and in a desperate moment, she attempts to heal them both only to be discovered by one of the Fae creatures who enters into a magical deal with her that he will slow the disease of her brothers if she agrees to come to their land and help heal his grandmother
The good: I really enjoyed the Threadmaker magic and how it is described in the book. I really enjoyed the detail that was put into the world and the characters. The moth is my favorite character in the whole book.
The bad: I knew from the second she entered the Fae world where this was going and what was going to happen. It was very trope based and very obvious. The moth is my favorite character, because the characters are all pretty unlikable. It didn’t feel as advanced as some of the comparison authors like Sarah J. Mass and Rachel Gillig

dark, haunting, and beautiful. i loved the gothic atmosphere with layers of secrets and mystery woven throughout. this is for fans of sarah j maas and rachel gillig. i was really interested in the glamours used, and found the magic system to be pretty unique! there were a few predictable moments and some questionable critical thinking on the fmc’s part.. but considering everything edira was dealing with, maybe we should give her a break 😅 i definitely recommend rereading the prologue once you finish!
