Started skipping large chunks to get to the plot resolution
Thought the entire
ridiculous infanticide and child-farming with resulting accidental incest was the stupidest thing I had ever read. Sure only having one son keeps your patrimony intact but what if they die in one of the many many childhood diseases of that time? I assume the no daughters was purely so they had to import fresh blood from outside of Kent but still what utter stupidity.
It made NO SENSE.
