3.5/5.
I'm not sure why but I really enjoy novelizations and novels about superheroes, even more than actually reading the comics.

3.5-ish. The story is darker and more introspective than the typical Spider-Man plot, and this adaptation does a good job of showing how different characters react when confronted by fear and death. A certain familiarity with the standard Spider-Man canon is assumed, so I don’t think you’ll get as much out of the story if you don’t know who Kraven is, but even as someone whose knowledge of the comics is almost exclusively from watching the ‘90s TV show, I could track what was going on and why it mattered. I got some feels.

I haven’t read the graphic novel this is based on, so I can’t say how it compares, but I enjoyed the novelization. Would recommend if you’re semi-familiar with classic Spider-Man but prefer prose story-telling.
