Nice perspective, but I feel like it dragged on and I would have preferred a single essay on this topic. I thought this would be more about HOW to resist the attention economy, like the title says, but it’s more about art and philosophy and examples of people resisting the attention economy. It’s more about the idea of “doing nothing” than it is about actually “how to do nothing”. There are some cool insights, but ultimately dragged on too much for me and wasn’t really what I wanted it to be.

DID NOT FINISH: 20%

Poor writing, shallow discussions that were centered around San Francisco tech scene culture. It may have gotten better, but I was fatigued quickly by the ratio of insight to drudgery. It seems like the intended audience is tech bros who have never heard of "outside."

A whole lot of great one liners, and small anecdotes, about living more mindfully. Unfortunately, they are not artfully connected. There is no story.
