I think my 5 star rating is less reflective of the book by itself and more reflective of the series as it grows. Don’t get me wrong - I really enjoyed this book. But I think what’s sticking in my brain and tipping me to 5 stars is overall world building, character development, and Jeff Hays.*

*I rarely consume fiction through audiobooks. While reading the print copies of these, I find myself putting the book down, cuing up my spouse’s copy on Audible, and listening to Jeff Hays manage to marry Cockney and Creole dialects.
