4.5 stars, rounded up. This was so fun to read and I devoured it in about 4 hours collectively, max. I am an utter fiend for anything to do with fame and celebrity so this was right up my alley. The only reason it wasn't 5 stars was because it was just missing a certain je ne sais quoi that I can't put my finger on. A great read, especially for summer :)

this book has genuinely put me into a reading slump so read at your own risk… but this is meant in the best way because it was so good i can’t stop thinking about it!

funny you should ask blew up on bookstagram last month and the cover is pretty eye catching, so for weeks this was all i was seeing on my feed. someone finally pitched it to me and said that if i had liked tshoeh, i should read this. and you know what? they weren’t wrong. the tshoeh comparison was what finally convinced me to read it.

the two books are not entirely similar but they do have similar vibes and themes. i really would describe funny you should ask as the seven husbands of evelyn hugo if it were told completely through monique’s POV. i also think that it has an incredibly similar vibe to seven days of june. so if you liked either of those books, read funny you should ask.

i thought the premise of this was so fun. a reporter who interviews the new james bond and spends the weekend with him, becomes famous for that interview, and then ten years later does a follow up interview after some miscommunication between the pair. normally i HATE miscommunication, but i actually enjoyed it in this book. i thought it was realistic and didn’t make me irrationally angry.

this is the exact type of book i love. alternating timelines, news articles, references and allusions to the other timeline, the entertainment industry. it’s all so good and a recipe for my perfect book. it was just so perfect.

i read this entire book in one sitting and i haven’t been able to stop thinking about it since. it’s the perfect summer read and while it’s promoted as a romance book i think it’s more literary fiction that happens to have romance.

i had a vision in my head of what chani looked like, but for some reason i couldn’t envision gabe. he was just a rotating hollywood actor. sometimes he was henry cavil or chris hemsworth or chris evans.

i just had a fun time reading this story and i can totally see myself revisiting it in the future. please do yourself a favor and read this book.

Fun!
Had to get used to used to the then and now and all the articles but it also added a different element to the story that I enjoyed

For such a short book, I am not sure why it took me so long to finish. I liked the ending, I liked the slow burn, I even liked the banter — but, it’s not my fav. I was hopeful because of booktok, but they let me down.. just a bit.
