i was so excited for this and overall think this is an important book that will provide education & perspectives that many vastly need to consider! for me personally, a lot of it did not feel new, rather it brought together information various researches, authors, etc. i struggled to get through some of the author's writing on how fatphobia personally impacted her, as i did not expect a memoir element. overall, this is a great book if you want to answer the questions of what is fatphobia & how does it work? unfortunately, i didn't find it went in to much depth on how to "face" said fatphobia and was hoping that was more of a theme given the title.

This is now required reading to ever engage with me again.

I cannot count how many times I saw MHMM or AMEN or EXACTLY while listening to this book. I love the research that was put into this, the stories both told and personal and the incredible knowledge Kate brings to this book.
informative

I’ve read quite a few books on anti-fat bias and fat phobia, some more fact, study based and some more experiential. They all add a piece to the very nuanced and layered experience of a fat person in this world. Manne’s book was a great mix of study and science and experience. It was well rounded, succinct and very well written. I would probably recommend this book first to anyone looking to learn more on the subject.

MUST read. Thank you so much Kate for writing this book.

Manne's book dives into the insidiousness of fatphobia's part in contributing towards socioeconomic, educational, and medical suppression. This is a great resource in considering how anti-fatness connects to white supremacy, misogyny and other identity based structural issues.

This book showcases really great information regarding just how many ways fat people are discriminated against in society and how that plays into other aspects of discrimination (anti-blackness, misogyny, homophobia, transphobia, etc.) I really appreciated the information, but the style of the writing wasn't my favorite.
