I have never been able to read the classics, they’re painfully hard to read and I can’t understand it half the time. But having them in this format made it so much easier to read!! I quite enjoyed the book and I’m glad that this made it so that everybody can have a chance to enjoy it and understand it because it’s a wonderful book and a beautiful love story!
Quick adaptation. All of the important scenes were there and even kept some of the smaller sider characters (poor Maria). You don't feel the drama build up like the original, but it does much better representing the whole story and pacing than some of the movie adaptations I've seen. The wet, opened shirt proposal was a good laugh at the end.
It is a truth universally acknowledged that Pride and Prejudice is one the greatest books ever written. So when I discovered that there was a manga version created by Stacy King and illustrated by Po Tse, I immediately ran to get my hands on it. Who would have thought that Pride and Prejudice as a manga would work so well!
Now, after rereading it half a dozen times it is now on the list of my all time favourite books. The illustrations are absolutely stunning. However, if you are looking for a book that is true to the original story, this is not that, the book accentuates the romanticism of Pride and Prejudice, so much so that sometimes you think to yourself was this scene really in the original book, but it still works and honestly I kind of love it even more for it. I may be biased though as anything relating to Pride and Prejudice soon becomes a favourite of mine. (I think I’ve all watched all productions of Pride and Prejudice at least dozens of times).

I'm a sucker for graphic novels, comics, and manga. When I saw 'manga classics' I knew I had to read them all. Pride & Prejudice was certainly first on my list. Of Course, I knew how the story would go. I'm sure very few people are unaware to how Jane Austen's novels end. That being said, I still wanted to read it in manga form. I thought they did it very well. Without a doubt, I will read more from the publisher. It was so adorable while staying true to the classic we all love. So glad I found these! If you're a manga and a classic lit fan, you'll love these! I know I did. :) I received this manga for an honest review, but as always, my thoughts are my own.
I fell in love with this story around the time that the movie starring Keira Knightley & Matthew Macfadyen came out. So ten years, now? When I saw it in the store in manga format, I pointed it out to my mom, who thumbed through it and quickly added it to her 'to-read' list. Since she is the one that got me hooked on the story to begin with, she bought it on our next visit.
& after she read it, I got my hands on it. I've been in love with the manga style since I was little & this novelization turned manga proved to be no different in terms of that love. I love how this story is portrayed in this format; I love the charm that overwhelms the story. The tone of sarcasm was also nice to see in reading through, as well, "Oh happy day! The most worthless man in all of England is to be my Brother-in-law!" -- Elizabeth on the union of her sister Lydia & Mr. Wickham.
The only reason I'm giving it four stars and not five is because I felt that there were key pieces in the manga that I liked so much better in the movie adaptation. For example, the gazebo scene where Darcy first confesses his feelings was moved to the end for the second proposal. & the answer given by Lizzie should have been given by Jane in response to Bingley. Those scenes in the film seem iconic to me, so it was a wonder that they were moved around and switched.
Other than that, I thoroughly enjoyed this fast paced manga retelling of this classic fairy tale.

Idk why I own this, but I wanted a fast and easy read with images as a break from all my reading.
A classic revived through beautiful pages. Seriously, the art in this manga is AMAZING. The effort that the team has put in this work of art is amazing. Jane Austin's timeless story really comes to life in this way.
I received this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
Pride and Prejudice is one of my all-time favourite novels and even though parts of the story were emphasized/dramatized to fit the manga style I still thoroughly enjoyed this adaptation. I liked the fact it kept many of my favourite quotes and how the characters were drawn/portrayed. I could certainly understand why die-hard Austen fans may not share this opinion but as for me I really enjoyed it; it just made me want to re-read the original novel and watch the BBC adaption all at once.

This was stunning! The art work along makes it worth buying in paperback (which I'll be doing)
I really kind of loved Darcy's introduction as "The Mysterious Mr Darcy" and having his illustration with the head obscured! So cute!
I loved every minute, which was not guaranteed. I'm a firm lover of the original series with Colin Firth and nothing else compares, but this did the job perfectly. Especially that ending, where we caught up with everyone.
