I received an ARC through Netgalley via Udon Entertainment. This in no way affected my review.

After taking so long to read this, I finally binge read this in one sitting and was truly taken aback. I’ve been a fan of the Manga Classics series since I first read The Scarlet Letter, and have been happily, but slowly, reading through all their works that I have been able to. Pride and Prejudice is no exception.
The first thing, as always with Manga Classics, is the utterly beautiful artwork done by Po Tse. Every manga Tse has worked on that I have read, I have always been taken aback by the absolutely beautiful art work. The characters just come to life through their drawing and I always feel a little honoured to be able to see it.
Having never read the original Pride and Prejudice, I have no idea if this is in anyway related or even close to the original – however, I do suspect it is – but I loved it anyway. A more modern speech, well done artwork that helps us connect to the characters and the story, and the pages just flow. It’s so easy to turn this page after page, and just get totally lost in it.
However, the story itself just wasn’t for me personally. Although sweet, it was a little too sweet for my own personal tastes, hence the 4 star rating instead of 5. The manga is perfect, nothing wrong with it! Don’t get me wrong; I’m just not a fan of hardcore romance like this story.
I would definitely recommend this, however, and I will definitely be looking into getting a copy of this and other Manga Classics in the future!

Gorgeous illustrations bring the story to life with this adapted version of Pride and Prejudice.
I love these editions and will continue to grab them when I can. Awesome.
*Huge thanks to Jane Austen, Po Tse, Stacy King, Udon Entertainment and NetGalley for this copy which I chose to read and all opinions are my own*

Despite the clichè, Pride & Prejudice is probably my favorite classic novel and this manga was a highly enjoyable adaptation. The art is lovely and they captured the characters well. I do take slight issue with how much emotion Darcy shows but I may be biased (Macfadyen’s dispassionate portrayal is my favorite). Overall, a fast and fun read.

This was cute. My first manga ever, so I’m fairly certain a lot of the quirks of the book (everyone being beautiful and having intense hair, BIG emotions, chibis) are just hallmarks of the genre. Idk though - my issue with this is the same issue I have with most graphic novel adaptations of books: you often lose so much wit and humor and social commentary and are left mostly with plot.
This was like watching a B-movie manga version of P&P. It was a bit ridiculous and I liked it.
Beautifully retold and illustrated version of one of my favorite novels.
Minus one star for historical inaccuracies in costuming, hair styles, and dancing (the waltz was not generally done in Jane Austen's time).
And not all of the English people of the upper class were Lords and Ladies (cringe).

As the first book I've read in Manga format it was very interesting! It took me a couple chapters to get used to it, but the artwork and wording was very enjoyable and fun to read!!
