I loved reading this book to my almost 4-year-old. I read the first chapter of it to her almost 6 months ago, and then it sat on her shelf unread for months. Out of the blue, she pulled it off the shelf again about a month ago, and we have been steadily reading it together ever since. I'm not convinced that she understood all of it (all the Queen's "off with her head" comments definitely went over hers), but she has loved it nonetheless. She especially got a kick out of the guinea pigs who were "suppressed by officers of the court" by being sat on.

How unoriginal is it to end books by saying it was all a dream? Okay, so maybe it wasn't so cliche back in the days of Lewis Carroll. But it's still not a great ending.

It's a darn good thing this is illustrated and that I saw the Disney cartoon many, many times while growing up because I'm not sure I would have known what the heck was going on otherwise.

This seems like a complete mess. There is no sense in how one event hops to another. There is little sense in what is being said or how the characters interact.

But then POOF! There will come a line that makes SO much sense that you wonder if you actually had the sense all along. Or that you didn't but now do. Or that you never had nor will you ever have sense.

Oy vey.

'It's really dreadful,' she muttered to herself, 'the way all the creatures argue. It's enough to drive one crazy.'

The illustrations were very cool. The story was good enough. My imagination is crap (in my defense, I was an extra imaginative child...perhaps I used it all up too fast).

I really enjoyed it, I like how it was short but you could still understand the plot. The only thing is because it is short you don't get to know the characters or their personalities.

A great integration of logic and insanity as Carrol navigates the boundaries of reality through the eyes of a young girl.

this world managed to capture my attention during my school years. i actually read it in full and not the abridged version, which felt like a mission impossible for the younger me. proud of this one

The illustrations in this pop-up book are fun enough, and my kids love them, but the text is terribly disjointed and makes absolutely no sense on its own. Very disappointing.

This was a really cute and whimsical story; I'm so glad I finally picked it up but I almost wish I'd read it at a younger age, because my inner child loved this lol! I think the Disney movie actually did really well with adapting this, which is awesome! And this may sound silly, but this is making me want to pick up my most favorite book Heartless again now that I've read the original, just to pick up on all the references!
