I feel like Barbara Kingsolver should have a separate rating system because she is head and shoulders superior to most writers. So I guess that's why I gave this a 4.5 even though it would be a 5 from any other author. Compared to her other novels, it's not my favorite. I don't care for two stories (in different centuries) going on in one book, although she does it masterfully.
I had forgotten I had read it. It got familiar, and then I was happy to read it again. I got more out of it the second time.
