Strangely drawn in to this book and its reasonably odd cast of characters, despite an unusual clashing of tones. Sometimes I felt I was in an Enid Blyton novel, but then there’d be a 50 shades of Grey sentence which threw me! Overall, enjoyable if out dated with some of its themes and terminology.

Great emotion, interesting setting but simply too many characters. Lots of cousins sleeping with each other, which also was a bit disturbing. Like a British soap opera set in WWII.
