I did not expect this to be on my reading list at university for the Victorian Literature module, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that it was. Alice's Adventures in Wonderland is weird. I mean really weird.... But also charming, and enthralling. This is creative to a whole new level, or you could call it crazy... either way, I enjoyed the journey.

“The hedgehog was engaged in a fight with another hedgehog, which seemed to Alice an excellent opportunity for croqueting one of them with the other: the only difficulty was, that her flamingo was gone across to the other side of the garden, where Alice could see it trying in a helpless sort of way to fly up into a tree.”

The above quote is a classic example of the mayhem and confusion. This is not even a particularly random moment.... it is just normal. This is labelled as children's literature, but I am not sure how children would receive it, as the chaos confused me, and took me quite a while to grapple. I had to read this slowly and really mull over what was happening, as nothing can be taken for granted! But, just because it was harder did not correlate in a downward spiral in enjoyment. In fact, it was the chaotic nature and structure that engaged me the most. Part of that is the novelty of reading a story of this. Nevertheless, I really enjoyed reading this, and I am very glad it featured as a compulsory read on my module reading list!

“So she sat on, with closed eyes, and half believed herself in Wonderland, thought she knew she had but to open the, again, and al would change to dull reality.”

Sorry, Lew, but your brand of whimsy ain't for me.

the mad hatter is the best character and you cant convince me otherwise

This is the book that made me fall in love with reading at the age of 6, and every time I re-read I think I fall in love a little bit more.
Will always be one of my all time favourite books.
