Highly readable, enjoyable annotations -- not jam-packed so full of information you can hardly read the original text, like so many of the others in the Annotated series. Like Maria Tatar's Annotated Fairy Tales or Annotated Grimms, this is an excellent gift book for pleasure reading -- not as heavy on the scholarship.

It tells the story of Alice after she climbs through a rabbit hole into a fantasy world while chasing a talking white rabbit.  The tales focus on themes of nonsense and logic. As it turns out Alice awakens and you come to find that you too have experienced the imaginings in her dreamland.

I knew of Alice in Wonderland, perhaps because Disney once animated it, but I had never read the book. I’m not sure what I think of it. The characters were curiously fun, but the dialogue was so nonsensical it became a bit of a chore to read. Maybe a younger audience would be pleased by the rhyming?! I mean, I never did get the appeal of the Teletubbies either, perhaps it is merely a developmental stage.
