My friend originally recommended this book to me and I thought; Sapphic? monsters? witches? murdering princes? Sign me up!!
The beginning of this book is very blink-and-you-miss-it. A lot happens very quickly to lay the ground work of our two(three) main girls, their upbringing with a trio sister of old mean witches & their abilities and general goals. I didn't mind it at all though because it tells you exactly what you need to know so it can get to the meat of the story without dragging out those early parts just for the sake of lengthening the book.
There are definitely some scenes in this book where I was a little less interested in what was going on and was unsure about the pacing from plot point to plot point but overall I really enjoyed this one. I felt the characters were entertaining and easy to connect with.
I do wish some things had been a bit more elaborated on by the end of the book or wrapped up a little more in full but for an 8 hour audiobook I'm not going to complain. I would definitely recommend this one if you're looking for an easy read with damn near feral(in a good way) Sapphic witch monsters out for blood.. and maybe somehow finding love along the way.

Second, this book was fine. Great chararcters, but I don't think they or the plot will stick with me. Interesting premise - that's probably the best part. The idea of two witch assassins fighting for the same heart, not realizing they're gay and interested in each other makes a great story.

I really wanted to like this book, but it needed a few more rounds of editing. There were enough grammar and spelling errors to pull me out of reading, and several times, the plot accelerated so quickly, answering questions and solving puzzles that had only been set the chapter before, that I almost lost the motivation to keep reading. The only hook throughout the entire book is the romance, which has never been sufficient enough to be my only motivation for reading a book; I don't read books that are just the romance genre, and this bordered that too much for my liking.
With more edits and drafts, it could have been a really amazing book. I loved the idea and the characters, and I liked it enough to keep reading and to hope it was the beginning of a series. That being said, my friends consider me a harsh critic when it comes to writing, so give the book a try and see if it's to your tastes.
