This was a quick gory read, with just enough ridiculous takes, satire, real-world commentary and some wild creatures that would fit in a scifi disaster/apocalypse flick. Entertaining to read, but still left me with a little sad smile, thinking back over the past few years and the events that inspired the anger that fed this novella. Truly, we need to look out for each other.

Read it if: you want a quick survival story with a side of satire, that doesn't slow down until the very end.

Don't read it if: any politics in your fiction turns you off.

This book has done what no one allowed themselves to do for the past two years. It embraced the anger, the fear, and the total disbelief that fills us all concerning the current state of the world and took it to the greatest extreme.

While we cannot (thankfully) relate to the exact contents of this book, I feel as though we all understand the raw emotion inside it. We've all wanted to scream, and fight, and cry, but we persevere because that's what our species does. We keep going even when it's hard, or stupid, or unlikely, and we don't stop until we decide we're done.

The author says some people will find this book tasteless, but I think it's brave.

Fast and easy read, Really enjoyed the story.
In a strange way - very relatable, and even made me have a little giggle at certain parts.
The drama, action, and characters were amazing and the speed of the story is perfect - keeps you on your toes.

My only problem? It's a short read, 99 pages. I really wish it was longer just to see what else could have happened. :)

A novella deeply driven by emotion in the current climate and one that will be resonant with the majority of its readers. I didn’t mind the anger motive behind the writing and felt it added a cathartic element to the story which it otherwise would have lacked. A decent gore tale for what it was worth with some nice splashes of humour, though I was left wanting more (the curse of novellas!) and couldn’t help but feel it could have done with another proofread before final publishing as well. Still a nice perspective into the extremities a pandemic could have reached under other circumstances.

Fast paced, shocking horror which relates to anyone who has lived through the past 18 months - not for the faint hearted, worth a read for the character development and the wall to wall action

This read like a New Yorker’s long winded blog post rant about guns and a certain president.
