I had high hopes for this book as it came highly recommended from a friend, but unfortunately I struggled with it. I haven't read Life After Life so that probably didn't help. I got into certain chapters but then the shift in timeline would throw me off (even though normally I enjoy that in a plot). For the most part, I thought the plot dragged and I was only reading to finish it. It was very somber and depressing. I'm not sure how I feel about the ending - a bit frustrated perhaps but I didn't have a strong reaction since I wasn't invested in the story.

This felt like a slog through most of it, then the end just kind of sneaks up on you.

Instead of reincarnation as in Life After Life, the author chooses to jump around in the timeline to create a similar effect. Except it's super jarring sometimes, and can happen from one sentence to the next without warning.

Companion book to Life After Life. Teddy’s life turns out incredibly sad in some ways and beautiful in others.

This follow up to a life after life is more of a companion novel than a true sequel. I liked the initial novel and thought it was good enough I should read the next one whilst I remembered it.

This was very middle of the road for me, I wasn't blown away, it has a less interesting premise and honestly for me felt a little all over the place.

I don't really like books that are a big long series as I get bored of the same characters and also the second world war is hardly a lesser written about topic.

Imo the first book is worth it, this just feels like a cash grab.
