Together We Rot

I write this review as I have tears streaming down my face. Elwood never deserved the pain he went through at the hands of his mother and for him to be able to reconnect with Wil was absolutely amazing. I wish Wil and Elwood got the happy ever after they deserve together but I understand that not every book can have HEA the way I want them to. They both got their own form of happily ever after <3. Elwood will forever be in my heart because no matter everything he went through he deserves the world; he gave everything for his love. I will hold a special place in my heart for these two, because in their own way they were the right person wrong time

Eerie and fun to read ya romance. exactly what it says on the tin.

CHaracters were likable and interesting enough, the writing was good, and the atmosphere was created well.

The cult stuff was definitely the most interesting thing, and I wish that especially the supernatural stuff would've gotten a bit more flesh.

All in all this book felt, at least to me, a bit surface-level. Granted, I was barely invested in the romance, which was the main focus, but yeah. Idk.

Wish we had seen more of the cult and the catholic guilt, and also it's kinda sad that the butterfly motif was almost completely dropped after a one or two Elwood chapters.

It was good, I liked it. But it could have used a bit more... stuff.

This book had a really intriguing concept! And the cover art is just *chef kiss

This was an absolutely amazing read, it has: horror, romance, dark secrets and all based in a creepy small town. The storyline is so enchanting with a feeling of old fairy tale's whilst also being so unique. This is also quite a short fast paced book so it's perfect for anyone who want a quick read or if you want to read something new.

I really enjoyed the premises of this! The whole forest cult vibe with hardcore religious guilt is totally up my alley. The forest horror was pretty well written, but I would have liked to see MORE in general. If it's horror I want to be scared, and this didn't hit that too much. I feel like this plot would lend itself to some gnarly body horror, and this would have hit that next tier if it included more body horror with more descriptions. I was also really intrigued by Elwood's hallucination type things, and I feel like there should have been more of that.

I enjoyed the writing, and it flowed quite well, but there were some points that felt a little clunky. Overall that wasn't too present though and it was fun and easy to read.

I feel like the romance and development between Wil and Elwood was a little too quick. I would have liked to see Wil struggling a little more with hating Elwood before he came to her for help. Without that, it feels less compelling. I think it would also have been good to include more scenes of them hanging out when they were younger, because I'm not really picking up "bond so strong I would love you as an eldritch beast" vibes from their relationship that's been displayed.

All in all, not my favorite read, but I enjoyed having a dive into one of my favorite generes, "what the f-ck is up with these plants"
