I just read a little gem of a book by Jonathan Rogers. Although the cover doesn't say it, it's based loosely on the Bible story of David. It's called The Bark of the Bog Owl

This is one of those books that would be fantastic to read to your kids. Or if you have older boys who like to read, I think they'd love it. The hero of the story is a young boy, just twelve years old, who does incredible things with the help of God.

The Christian message is there, but it didn't feel preachy at all. It was just a fun adventure story. This may be one that I would purchase, just so I could read it with my kids and have it in my book collection. I'm looking forward to the rest of the series.

This was my second read of this book and this time on audio. It is such a different experience and I loved it. The author’s narration is perfect and fits the story so well. The feechie folk are still my favorite part and I’m excited to get into the rest of this series. My kids love this story and it is a great choice for young readers.

Short review: a good fantasy book that is loosely based on a retelling of the biblical story of David. Targeted toward upper elementary school, this is worth reading and would make a good real aloud for slightly younger kids as well.

We listened to the audiobook read by the author with our three boys. They loved it and we all laughed at loud when we first heard the bark of the big owl. Fun characters and wonderful story.

This book is a fun, fantasy tale loosely based on the story of David from the Old Testament. I read it aloud to my 9 yo and 6 yo, who always begged for one more chapter as I closed the book each night. Good balance of adventure and humor. Fun for all ages! Looking forward to book two.
