Enjoyed this- I would read more Jennifer saint!

There is no shortage of greek mythology novels so authors need to differentiate their retellings. I’d been looking forward to Jennifer Saint’s versions, but found this one to be a bit disappointing. The story stands on its own - bravery, tragedy, drama - but sat just on the edge of drawing me in at those epic moments. I wish she had taken more creative license to turn the history of Atalanta into a story we couldn’t forget.

Saint can take these classical myths, make them her own but still hold the ancient atmosphere and all powerful gods. The gods that are neither good nor evil, but complex in their natures.
Atalanta has limited tales but Saint breathed in life into her, I felt kinship with her. I understood her and felt she and I were similar. So many times I thought-I wish to be a wolf or a bird, to live in the forest and run wild.
She actually got a happy ending, in a way.
