I think my favorite part of this book was the mystery. I didn’t expect it but it grabbed my attention from the start and I couldn’t wait to find out who this mystery woman was and who she fell in love with.
Abbey Bly is the daughter of a very famous musician. He is also very protective of his only daughter. So when Abbey decides to study abroad for a year in England she has to lie to her dad about rooming with 3 boys. And then the lies just keep coming.
But abbey really finds her groove in London and discovers her passion for history. When she buys a painting at a Duke’s estate sale she needs to find more information about the woman in the painting. This research turns into a year long project.
In the mean time Abbey makes new friends and gets herself stuck in a love triangle.

Ok… so I didn’t know how to feel about this book at first - it’s a big departure from her normal college sports realm.

Don’t get me wrong, I love Elle and her writing style and world building, but I was a little meh at the premise at first…

But then I ate this book up. I binged it in 24 hours.

I’m still not sure how I feel about this book - I really enjoyed the historical mystery aspect to the story. It really added life to her purpose for being in London. However, I’m not sure I love the lack of “relationship” building she did between Nate and Abbey and Jack and Abbey. Like, don’t get me wrong… she did build them up, but not to the extent you would expect for the ending.

Also, I just have to say
I totally expected the Ben situation to take another turn there. It seemed a bit odd that they would go to those lengths at the party just to have her do a few lines of coke…

Anyways - I enjoyed this story. Not as much as I liked her Avalon Bay series, but it is worth a read.

3/5

I wanted to like it. I really did.
This is my first book by the author and based on this one I don’t think I would read any other of her books.
When I was about 3/4 of the way through a book, I was told that this is one of her least liked books. I’m debating on whether I should give her another shot.

I like the vibe of going off abroad for college and spreading her wings since her father had been so protective of her. In the beginning, I really liked the main character but is the story went on she seemed to be a bit whiny.

The two guys.. one just gave me the ick from the beginning and the other was the obvious choice that she kept glazing over

3.5 rounded up. hey, listen. was it the greatest book i’ve ever read? absolutely not. was i really entertained? hell yes i was. i don’t mind that she picked jack because that means nate is all for me.
