Kind of a ghost story. I almost stopped reading because it had me so tense. Not good for gore-ophobes.

What a brilliant read. The chapters concerning Lady Jinx made me cry, and when I learned the truth about her character, wow, I lost it in spades.

Are there slow parts? Yes. But the unraveling of Beth, a character you want to support, but ultimately come to hate, is exquisitely done.

I kept the library book just to read the last chapters a few more times.

Carey has written a true winner.
