An interesting view into the politics of Machiavelli's time, most of which could be adapted to work in context of present leaderships.

I surprisingly really enjoyed this (though I could have done without the notes.. Which really brought down the book for me, as I wasn't too keen on reading 46 pages of an introductory. )

A good translation and a modest collection of Machiavelli's writings. You're much better off getting the complete Discourses, among other works. But, Rebhorn is an excellent Machiavelli scholar and offers a great introduction and footnotes to supplement your reading.

To paraphrase from the book itself, this is a collection of study, to aid the reader in foreseeing the future through consulting various historical case studies, analysing the factors (passions, nature of education, manners, habit of life), which drive situations to highly similar outcome, and thus come to an informed decision on how to proceed next.
