Once this volume finally arrived on my hold shelf, I gobbled it up immediately, followed by the second part of City of Bane. (Pun intended based on the time of year I read these, lol.)

Tom King concludes his run of Batman masterfully, both when depicting Batman's believable and endearing relationship with Catwoman and when using Thomas Wayne and Bane as the primary villains. I really don't understand why so many fanboys apparently caused an uproar disfavoring King. For me, the story, script, and art on this several-year run of Batman couldn't get much better. I'm eager to see how the fallout of certain pivotal and shocking events will pan out in years to come. This is a superhero comic book, after all.

After some ups and downs in the last couple volumes, King delivers an intriguing, fun, and world-shattering storyline for Batman. The set-up for City of Bane is SO good, I wish we'd spent more time there. That being said, I suppose it might have stretched credulity if it'd gone on too long. But I though King did a reasonable job of explaining how we got here and why Gotham's new status quo is tolerated. And, you know what? The set-up is just FUN. Kind of over the top. I dig it. It's great to see the Bat and the Cat interacting again.

Gotham transformed. Criminals running ruling the city. Batman far away and picking up the pieces of all he's lost. As King's run with Batman moves toward its conclusion, all the pieces that have led to this point begin to come together. With King's strong, distinct writing, and powerful art from Mann, Gerads, and the rest of the team--the saga of Bat, Cat, and the city that has shaped them builds the emotion higher through shocking twists and the quiet moments that have set this series apart. The clash is coming, and it will leave everything changed.

Good setup for what’ll probably be a great grand finale.

Bane finally takes Gotham, and he settles some new rules to pacify the city. Villains running the GCPD, chaos and people dying. Batman (Thomas W.) and Gotham Girl “protect the city” in a very violent way. While Bruce and Selina are away from Gotham, they try to fix their relationship and also are planning to take Gotham again.

The Bat-Family also tried to take Gotham, but as a result, Robin is taken hostage and Alfred is dead.

I did not fully enjoyed this book.

It was interesting to see Bane trying to take over Gotham but I didn't enjoy it as much it could have been.
