If you go in knowing what you signed up for, it’s a fun read. It seems like the original version of the book set the story up much better than this revised version so it’s a bit disappointing that it was changed.

This is my personal review without spoilers of the actual plot.
At first, I was reluctant to the genre; romantic story, but this is so much more than that. Say Hello to Annabelle Peyton, the strongest most charismatic main character you’ll ever meet in any book genre. You get to know her quickly and you’d give her the moon if you could. Kleypas got the power to make such a character with words and it’s truly inspiring. No, wonder the books are so coveted.
It was so beautiful and after reading it, I instantly reached out for the second book only to be very disappointed; it’s a different lead role in the next book.
I love the humor surrounding the four main characters. They are so lively and passionate and together they are unbeatable. At times, I was laughing so loud with Annabelle’s crazy ideas made me love her even more.
We get to know all the characters a bit in this first book but they all get their individual shine in each of the books. Therefore, if you’re more into Lillian then Annabelle; you don’t need to worry a bit; she’s getting her own book. However, of course the focus is on Annabelle in this first book to kick off the series.
Read it if you love a good story with lots of humor, it will spellbind you forever. It’s a trip back in time to a place where money and social class meant everything; it’s a trip you’ll never forget!
Happy Reading

I enjoyed the side characters more than the MC's, but I did overall enjoy this book. It was fun, lighthearted, and had a bit of angst. I'm still debating if I'll be reading the rest of the series, but I'm leaning towards yes. One thing I did not enjoy was the narrator -- her voice was very... artificial, for lack of better vocabulary.
This original version is much better than the updated one. The motivations of the MCs actually make sense!
I was told that if I wanted to scratch a Bridgerton itch, then I need to dive into this series.
I absolutely adored the characters and the setting! The angst between Simon and Annabelle was top tier and I really loved how the romance between the characters for the next book was set up

cute, but not as fun as The Ravenels so far. I can see LK laying the groundwork for good stories though
