Je commence ma troisième série de Lisa Kleypas et encore une fois, je suis convaincue. J'aime le fait qu'elle mette en scène ici des personnages qui sont un peu à la marge de la saison. Maintenant, il faudrait que j'arrive à finir une de ses sagas un jour.

Finalmente sono riuscita a finire questa serie dopo qualche anno. Questo era l'ultimo libro che mi mancava per finirla (anche se ironicamente è il primo).
Mi sono piaciuti molto Simon e Annabelle, forse sono la mia seconda coppia preferita dopo Lord St. Vincent e Evie.
Nonostante i libri della Kleypas siano molto simili tra loro, sono sempre piacevoli da leggere. Non so, forse perché sono scorrevoli... magari mi rileggo anche gli altri.

This book took me awhile to get into and I was disappointed b/c I've loved all the other Kleypas books I've read. I started out listening to it and I was reminded that for whatever reason, I really don't like listening to romance--lots of other stuff, but not romance. But I saw some other reviews that people posted who felt similarly so I don't think it was just that. Plus it didn't help that I really disliked Annabelle--what a hypocritical snob. It's not okay for Simon to make his money by earning it, but it's okay for her to get money for her family by selling herself in marriage. Ick. Plus all the talk of these supposedly upstanding men (of the peerage) not offering to marry her because they can then make her their mistress kind of made me ill.
However, I did enjoy the book after a while, Annabelle got less disgust-worthy, and I loved Simon's character! One thing that I really enjoyed about the book is that maybe about a 1/4 of the way to the end they get married and we get to see them really develop a very loving relationship. This delighted me because so many books end with the marriage and this was a really lovely way to draw this out. Can't wait to read the next one.
