It is a fascinating book! It starts off pretty confusing, but it just keeps getting better!
Well I read some of it... just couldn't get into this story.
dark
emotional
mysterious
reflective
fast-paced
This book was so sweet.
I loved the characters, especially their names, the setting, and the way the story was told. It was so incredibly sweet and innocent, but at the same time very...not...
The book definitely dealt with some extremely heavy things, and I'm amazed to find a book with so many violent, heavy, rough, and heartbreaking themes woven throughout that still manages to come across with the atmosphere of innocence, sweetness, and childlike purity.
I loved the mountain setting, and the accent, and the names.
It isn't incredibly fast-paced, and I didn't binge-read it, but I don't think there woukd have been a need. It didn't make it feel dragged out, and though at times a few parts felt slow, overall the pacing was very fitting.
Did I mention how much I loved the names?
So yes. This book definitely deserves a read. It's sweet and innocent, yet heavy and heartbreaking at the same time. And I loved it.

This book was a fun read. The only complaint I have is trying to read the characters accent sometimes lol sometimes I had no idea what word it was supposed to be until about half way through the book. But, overall I loved the adventure and mystery in the story and the strong-willed characters.
Francine Rivers is a Christain author and this was a beautiful book.
Cadi is a 10-year old girl in 1850's Appilachia seeking redemption from her sins. She tries "tradition" and it doesn't work so she then seeks and finds the true source of redemption.

I liked this book, it was very interesting. But it's been a while since I've read it.
