This was a short really short read. It was brief and supposed to fall under the splatterpunk genre but I've read worse. It is an interesting take on the vampire stories. The social commentary in this novella at the beginning feels dragging. Maybe because I'm neither a redneck nor an American but I can understand. I love how it's trying to say that desperation cause people to allow themselves to behave like animals (maybe). Anyway, the cover freaked me out but I've read freakier subject matter.

This was a fun, fast paced read. I live less than an hour's drive from West Virginia so the setting and the characters really resonated with me. Keene's take on the vampire mythos is great and I'd totally read more.
