I really wanted this book to be better. There are many things to love about it, but it seemed to be too long as I was tired of the story instead of invested in the result.

NY subway.

August Landry meets Jane and nothing is the same again. The coffee girl and the subway girl. Always meeting on the train and every time August sees her it's the highlight of her day. There are sparks when they stand too close. Jane, such an enigma.

Some sci-fi mystery at the heart of this super cute sapphic romance. But there is also a wonderful queer cast of characters that surrounds them and we see scenes of everyday life with everyday difficulties.

It doesn't always make sense that public transportation could be the ideal setting for such a story, but McQuiston certainly tries to convince us that it can be done!

Along with the Red White Royal Blue sequel, I firmly believe that McQuiston must work on a deal for the film adaption of this too. Perhaps by the team that does Maxton Hall?! That'd be perfect. Please and Thank you.

Half a star in the review is solely for the Doctor Who reference!

"The girl stuck on the line with August's heart in the pocket of her ratty jeans."
