A howl of anger from a man who knew how to howl, this book demands that you think about the consequences of war from a human perspective. Absolutely stunning.

I believe that this belongs with the MUST READ classics. But Be Warned, you may need to read it a couple of times to completely understand it, as the story changes from reality to dreaming without warning.

Even though this is a classic anti-war book, I couldn't get into his style. I moht revisit another time.

The most powerful anti-war book I've ever read, told in the aftermath of World War I. The narrator is a man who has lost his arms, his legs, his nose, his face, his ability to hear or speak . . . yet as he lies in a hospital bed somewhere unknown, he retains the capacity to think, and so reflects upon the insane world that has put him there. Stunningly well written, filled with tension and anxiety, brilliantly reflective. Everyone should read this book.
