I felt like the story could have been cut by at least a third. I found myself getting distracted constantly. Some of it was good and interesting, but much of the time I was just waiting for it to get better and then for it to end.

⭐️⭐️
Lisa, babe. Let’s chat.
You are capable of so much more than this! I know, because I’ve read a couple of your other books and though they were nothing short of excellent. Maybe this book was on a publication deadline, made you frantic, and you then decided to include every possible thing into the plot? I dunno. But I’ll tell you the one thing you forgot: a good twist. The fact that the hidden gun was actually Allie’s father’s was completely predictable, especially considering how much he was enduring around that time with the loss of his daughter and realizing the severity and complexity of his wife’s mental illness. It was so guessable that I literally sighed and rolled my eyes while I continued to turn the pages, because at that point I just had to see it through with so little of the book left. I didn’t particularly enjoy the part where Allie all of a sudden remembers that she knew about the gun being her father’s the entire time?????? Like, bffr babe. You didn’t forget. I don’t think it was necessary to add. Maybe skip that next time, dear writer.

Can I also say how much I despised all of these characters? Absolutely all of them were unlikeable and self-absorbed, which made this much more painful to read.

The only reason this book got two stars was because of the short chapters and fast pacing. You’re better off skipping this one, friends.

This was the first book I have read by this author. Enjoyed the storyline and will look for other books by this author.

The book has its flaws, but overall an entertaining read.

I would say the book could easily be 50 pages shorter and still convey the same message, but the thing that bothered me the most was that some of the adults were portrayed as very bratty. Especially David's father. I felt that subplot was hammered in, rather than woven neatly like the rest was. What can I say, I'm not a lover of forced plots. Some parts were a bit unbelievable, and others a little rushed, but overall it did a good job.

Also,
SpoilerThat cheating thing never got resolved, we should get onto that.

Allie Garvey is going home after the death of a childhood friend, but she is dreading seeing the others whom she was with on the night of a terrible accident when they were teenagers. The accident was the result of a prank that went terribly wrong. They never told anyone for fear of getting caught. The secret that Allie kept has bothered her for years and she’s punished herself for that night, even though they were never caught. 20 years later, after losing one of the friends who was also in on the secret, Allie decides that she has to uncover the truth. What she finds changes everything she thought she knew about that night.

Someone Knows is a domestic thriller written from several different perspectives. The perspectives include Allie and each of the other four teenagers, along with chapters from their parents (which help get a deeper look at each of their backgrounds) and then the story jumps to present day where the multiple POV continues. I love a book with multiple perspectives, and this one had lots! For the most part it also had short chapters which is another bonus to this book!

There was LOTS of drama, amongst the teens and their families, all throughout the book. The story is intriguing and I was interested early on. For Allie especially, you see lots of character development from her teenage years to her adult years. The story continued to get more and more suspenseful as the book went on! It was a bit of a longer book, but every time I had to do something else I was wishing that I was reading this book! The twist at the end I DID NOT predict at all!

I enjoy reading anything Scottoline writes, but this book was not a favorite. The "twist" near the end didn't really change anything for me and the actions of at least one character were just too extreme without explanation (I want an episode of Criminal Minds to explain him!)

No matter, Scottoline is always worth reading.
