I felt the book's pacing was off. Some small events took chapters and large events where over quickly. I enjoyed the new characters and lands and would have loved to spend more time on those people and places. This is the shortest book of the trilogy and it's noticeable. This book was also pure confilct, very tense almost 0 downtime. All in all I enjoyed seeing the characters grow over the 3 books and would love to see these characters again.

I really wanted to rate this book higher but it fell short in so many ways. A lot of the story felt rushed and all of the horrible things that happened didn't get the page time they deserved. The trauma wasn't delt with at all. It felt like she wrote it as a contract obligation.

The narrator change for the audio book really ruined this last book in the trilogy for me. Bahni Turpin is amazing and I was sad I didn’t get to hear her finish out this amazing story.

I loved the first two in this series. But, for me, this  was a disappointing finale. It introduced new worlds and characters with very little development and felt like it lost the threads that held the  series together. For me it lacked the depth, emotion, and intention of the first two in the series.

DID NOT FINISH: 15%

DNF @ 15%

So, I am 5 years out from reading Children of Virtue and Vengeance. Therefore, idk wtf is going on. And because my TBR is already unattainable and because the reviews are mid… I’m not really looking to reread books 1 and 2 to get prepped for this. Maybe some other day, but for now… ✌️

So many of us that fell in love with Books 1 & 2 have waited an extremely long time for the finale and it was finally delivered. It was magical, it was adventurous but I felt the ending was very much rushed. There’s a few unanswered questions I have now and not even pertaining to the main character, Zelie. What I will say is, it was magical, it was filled with adventure, new found love, few found strengths and of course, life for a life. I do feel the book could’ve been a teeny bit longer, like the other 2 were. Guess I’ll just have my couple unanswered questions for the rest of my being while I move on to other adventures.

**it is a great book to finish the trilogy though**
