What a brilliant end to the legacy of Orisha series. Knowing that Tomi went though so much strife before/during the writing of this book, it makes the authors note all that more special.

I think the narration was hard to follow since the voices didn't change much with the different characters. I couldn't follow the plot of this book. It didn't grab my attention and the ending was a let down. I'm left disappointed with this read.

This book feels like an 11th hour addition to the series. The book is 8 hours shorter that book 1 and almost 4 hours shorter than book 2. That wouldn't be a problem if it was just finishing up threads from the first two, but it's about new foe added in the last chapter of the last book.
We add a new foe, show the scope of the world, a world ending prophesy all in 10 hours.
The pacing is slow for the first 25% then things swing wildly in the other direction. By 50-75% the book has time skipped weeks of fortifying two lands against attack, and the training of two of the main cast. Amari while still navigating her breakup with Tzain gets into a relationship with Mae'e without enough time to build that up. Leaving out bi or lesbian characters feeling like a checked box more than the growth of a person.
The last 20% is fully rushed the sense of distance is gone and new enemy ships make the travel time next to nothing, and the final fight against the big bad is over in minutes.

A bit of a let down because I really liked the first book in this series. It kind of strayed from the original storyline and what I was expecting. The worldbuilding for New Gaia was really great though.

DNF at 20% and it takes a lot for me not to finish a book. I think this is only the third book. I haven’t finished in five years.
I love the first book of the series that’s one of my favorite fantasy books. This feels completely destroyed from the first few in the trilogy. It’s extremely choppy and hard to follow and doesn’t pay back to really what the first two books are about.
