That ending had me shocked, the slow burn was totally worth it. I didn’t know how they were going to take this book since nothing was happening for a while but once the flashbacks started I knew this was going to be good. All the characters are so incredibly shitty to each other and lie constantly but still stay friends. I think that’s what makes the story so intriguing because why would you stay in that situation if it wasn’t good for anyone. The plot twist is the best one I’ve read in a while or ever. I took a point off just because it was a little bit too much of a slow burn for me but I think it works really well regardless.

Summer's Edge was an interesting YA horror thriller read! The story is told from three different points of view and dual timelines but it was still easy to follow along. The characters themselves are troubled, messy and sometimes a little dark teenagers! Ha sounds like all teenagers right! The pace is slow but there are plenty of twists and turns to keep you entertained! This is the kind of book that takes a patient reader. It's kinda like baking you add all the ingredients and then wait for it to cook and in the end you get a yummy treat! Well that's how this book is you get all of the twists turns and information and then it all comes together in the end! It's a good book to kick off the summer with!

Overall this was a confusing journey of a story with a surprisingly satisfying ending.

I was enjoying it til the last hundred pages or so when it started to oddly get a little slow.

Well written, but I think the twist is too similar to We Were Liars and Haunting of Hill House that it kinda rubbed me the wrong way. Love the friendship dynamics, how the pov was organized, and splashes, hehe, of horror.
Do not like the “dead all along” trope, the ghost theorizing made my eyes glaze, and the repetition of “Lying” got annoying. Kennedy is my girl and Chelsea is very well written. Fuck Emily. Fuck Ryan. Mila can chill. Chase is on thin ice.

If you loved "The Haunting of Hill House" and "We Were Liars" then you are going to LOVE this book.

Best friends Chelsea, Kennedy, Emily, Chase and Ryan were inseparable, spending every summer at Kennedy's family's lake house. When Chase brings his new girlfriend, Mila, into the fold, secrets and relationships in the group begin to crack. Two years later, the friends are spiraling from a death in their friend group after a terrible accident that leaves the lake house burned to the ground.

Now, it seems like history is repeating itself, and the friends must race against the clock to figure out who is trying to kill them — and why.

I don't think it's a spoiler to say that this book switches POV almost unexpectedly, several times throughout the book to tell the story. At first, that really threw me, since for the majority of the book the main character was Chelsea. However, I think the POV switches did really help the story along, because every character had their own secrets to carry.

The story's twists and turns will leave you breathless, and I had a good time trying to unravel this mystery-that-isnt-quite a mystery. Would make an EXCELLENT limited series!!

The multiple perspectives and changes in timeline (current, past, current) made it confusing to keep up. Overall enjoyable though and I did like the ending.
