Thank you @prnaudio for a copy of this book. I was intrigued when this was compared to as Colleen Hoover.
This is a story about starting over, healing and finding love. I found the story a bit slow and the twists wasn't much of a twist.
Gemma Whelan and Jared Zeus did a good job on the narration.

Wren is running from the UK, after recently splitting with her fiance, who she finds out is in love with someone else. Enter Anders, a man who lost his wife 4 years ago, who she then falls in love with. Small town romance happens and a huge (might I say, kind of f*cked up) secret is revealed.
The plot was very much a slow burn, I think they didnt really admit feelings for each otheruntil about like, 75% of the way through really . Nothing wrong with a slow burn per-se but it felt very slow.
ESPECIALLY without dual POV, it was so freaking hard to figure out whether Wren was being delulu or this man actually liked her, because boy was Anders ... QUIET and quite frankly BORING (but considering the plot twist, I understand why there was no dual POV). There was something just so shallow about this book, I can't quite place it though. I didn't really care for the characters, nor did I feel like they had much chemistry and the whole pretending his wife was actually dead for a day was honestly weird. Like girl this man has so much baggage but she's still like, 'what if 👉🏽👈🏽 ?!', the epitome of 'i can fix him.....' 👁️👄👁️

She has only gone and done it again! I absolutely adore Paige Toon’s books and she is the sole reason why I got into the Romance Genre in the first place.
There is just too much to say! Paige Toon is just a natural story teller that writes the most perfect romances that are heart warming, feel good and easy to read. I fell in love with all the characters and loved seeing them develop throughout the storyline and build their relationships be it romantic or friendship from nothing to the most heart warming story. I loved the dynamic between the sisters and the two brothers and I while I loved Anders & Wrens story, I especially loved how Paige Toon developed Bailey and Jonas’s relationship without having to destroy Bailey’s marriage as I feel like thats how you guess it will end but it was so refreshing for it to have a different ending between them. Additionally, the development in the relationship between Wren and her dad also just pulled at my heart strings and I also loved how Wren’s relationship with her ex-fiancé didn’t have a toxic or messy ending in the end which was also really refreshing.
Also, the research, thought and level of detail that goes into every story Paige Toon writes is just incredible. As another review states, Her books take place all over the world and you can really tell how much thought is put into them. It’s not just made up places or things you can find out from tv shows or movies, She takes her time to go to these places, scope them out and it really shows within the story lines and that definitely needs a lot of credit too. I also love seeing her adventures on Instagram and it really adds to each story and you definitely feel so much more invested.

Started off as a nice light story but then annoying melodramatic twist about 68% through. Ugh. And story was ended all nice and happy ending with a bow. Too light for my taste, I'm all for HEA but this didn't work for me.
“I’m so sorry,” I repeat as tears fill my eyes. “It’s not your fault that I couldn’t help falling for you.” The breath he draws in this time is sharp and raw. “I’m going to leave now, though, let you be. I don’t want to be another problem for you to have to worry about.”
I really thought this book would emotionally terrorize me. Surprisingly, it didn’t do any damage, and I’m not mad about that. The plot twist didn’t really ignite any empathy buuut I think that’s just a poor reflection of me (IYKYK)
4.5⭐️ This was a slow burn romance and I absolutely adored the characters and the intricacy of each of their situations and relationships. I loved Wren’s character development and the way she became closer with her family after so much distance and hurt, also battling with her confidence after her last relationship. My heart felt like it was breaking at points but I am so glad the ending was wrapped up so beautifully. The only reason I gave this 4.5 and not 5 was because the start took me a while to get into it. That could be a me problem though, as I thoroughly devoured the rest of the book once I got into the story. Will absolutely pick up another Paige Toon in the future!
