I really enjoyed the beginning to middle of the novel. I thought it was very well written which was a pleasant surprise. The characters are flawed and interesting. However, the pacing was off. I liked the mystery introduced at the beginning of the novel with Rob/Adam's past, but the central mystery wasn't that interesting to me and though I was surprised by the plot twist, I didnt care for it. I also really liked that Rob was an unreliable narrator and tells you at the beginning that he lies. Out of the two main characters, Rob and Cassie, I preferred Cassie and am glad that her story will be followed in the next book in the series.

At times, I also felt that I had to suspend too much disbelief. For example, Rob is a detective yet he doesn't really act like one.

I'm torn between giving this 2 or 3 stars because I did it enjoy it most of the time, but it definitely lagged in some parts and the ending was not satisfying at all.
