It had its up and down moments for me, but the last chapter elevated it for me. I thought it was emotional and clever to keep with the theme of “same as it ever was”. I found myself relating to many of the feelings the main character had, although not to her actions. At times I liked her; at other times, she annoyed me. But that is the complexity of being human. I found it thought provoking many times as I was reading: little “nuggets of truth” sprinkled in among the story.

A sweeping novel that maps complexities of marriage, motherhood, childhood, aging, and knowing oneself. This multigenerational story does what great literature does: makes human experience universally recognizable, regardless of the characters’ stations in life.

*Audiobook* Hits in some pretty real and raw feelings about becoming a mom and trying to handle that new identity. Powerful story and narrated well.
